Exhibition of Faces 2020
In early 2020 and going on during the Covid lockdown I made one ink drawing every day
Upon revisiting these drawings the impressions were overwhelming
Staring eyes - marked by emptiness and uncertainty
Hard contours - yet revealing vulnerability
Lost looks - reflections of loneliness and suffocation
a random selection
Initially full of expression the drawings were subject to a gradual transformation
As the series progressed the faces became more and more pared down
Reduced to their essence - a few powerful lines
The drawings ended up in a box and only last year
I stumbled upon this unopened box again in my studio
